Presidents Nguema and Kagame arrive in Uganda

Entebbe: President Theodore Obiang Nguema Mbasog of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea is in Uganda on an official visit while President Paul Kagame of Rwanda is also in the country on a 3-day State visit at the invitation of President Yoweri Museveni.

Equatorial Guinea President, Mr. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, who is also the current Chairman of the African Union, was received at State House, Entebbe at 2.30 p.m. where he was accorded a red carpet welcome and treated to a 21-gun salute.

Other receiving ceremonies included the playing of the national anthems of the 2 countries and inspection of a guard of honour by the visiting Head of State, mounted by officers and men of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

Later, President Museveni and his guest held bilateral talks centring on a number of issues of mutual importance between Uganda and Equatorial Guinea.

President Museveni later received President Paul Kagame of Rwanda who is on a 3-day State visit to Uganda. The Rwandan leader who in Uganda last month on a private visit is accompanied by his wife Jeanette Kagame arrived State House, Entebbe at 3.30pm and accorded a red carpet welcome and a 21 gun salute.

At the end of the receiving ceremonies, the 2 leaders received the report on the outcome of the 10th Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) between the 2 countries and later held bilateral talks on matters of mutual importance to the two East African Community brotherly countries.

During their stay in Uganda the two visiting Presidents will join their host tomorrow at the celebrations marking the 26th anniversary of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kapchorwa district.
