The Annual Headline Inflation rate for the year ending March 2010 went down to 7.5% from 8.1% in February.
The latest figures from the National Bureau of Statistics says the Annual Core Inflation, which excludes the price of food crops, fuel, electricity and metered water remained relatively stable at 6.5%. The Annual Food Crops Inflation rate for the year ending March 2010 dropped from 22% to 16.8%.
The Bureau of Statistics says the decrease in inflation rates was caused by a drop in food prices, particularly in the price of staple foods, milk, bread and cereals. This price change was the same for non-food items. During March prices of firewood, petrol, diesel and paraffin went up. Likewise, prices of local brew and some household and personal goods increased in most centers.
